Job descriptionAs a Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery. Using multiple software platforms, you will oversee routine maintenance and organize repairs, managing teams of up to 4 people. Your role is vital to the efficiency, development and progress of all the processes inside the greenhouse. Under direction of the Lead Automation Engineer you are required to maintain open communication about any doubts, questions, changes and/or issues. You will improve production facilities, reduce the incidences of costly breakdowns and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes.
To ensure success as a Maintenance Engineer, you should have extensive knowledge of industrial equipment, have the ability to complete complex projects on time, demonstrate high-level problem-solving skills, and have strong communication skills.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Follow up on maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.
- Continuous improvement and administration of PM programs for all equipment and building systems.
- Keep a log of maintenance performed.
- Ensure that all work has been completed on time in a safe, prompt, and professional manner.
- Perform analysis to determine the root cause of the most critical and repetitive equipment failures.
- Monitor greenhouse software and ensure all programming is accurate and interfacing with hardware.
- Check alarms on all irrigation, heating, cooling, and dosing equipment in the greenhouse.
- Report daily to the Lead Engineer regarding the purview of work and projects.
- Conduct meetings with the maintenance staff and growing team to train them with the new hardware and software.
- Control and track maintenance inventory (tools and equipment).
- Participate in maintenance meetings (Fridays) when the topics include greenhouse systems, projects, maintenance issues, etc..
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor as needed when delegated tasks.
- Inspect equipment and conduct routine maintenance regularly.
- Provide technical support and training on new equipment.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Proven work experience as a Maintenance Engineer or similar role in a team based environment.
- Agriculture industry experience is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
- Ability to read system schematics.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of safety and equipment procedures.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Spanish skills is a plus.
- Someone who likes to work hard and have fun on a skilled and fast-moving team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,560.00 - $72,000.00 per year
